And I am sure that the Z 400 mm f4.5 is better optically at 400 mm. All 3 lenses would be nice in a kayak or canoe, where I do a lot of photography. However, recently he also added the 500mm/f5.6 PF lens. If one is after the best results, I would use the 500mm/f4 on a tripod. That one stop does make a difference.
