WebWe know only that the Fourth Age began when the One Ring was destroyed and Sauron was vanquished, which Tolkien estimated to be about 6000 years ago. We don't know when the Fourth Age ended and a Fifth Age began, but presumably the Fifth Age would have been sometime within our recorded history.
