Borate glasses in combination with heavy metal oxides as modifiers, like Bi 2O3, have recently been prepared for several applications like solid state lightening applications and radiation shielding products. WebThe starting material of the glass system is ZnO-BaO-B 2 O 3 :TiO 2 glasses, which are prepared by conventional melt quenching technique. Densities are measured. Optical absorption spectra and FTIR spectra were recorded at room temperature. Optical absorption studies indicate that the titanium ions do exist in Ti 3+ and Ti 4+ state.
